This course will look at giving staff the skills to facilitate play in any outdoors environment. We will look at the importance of play, how it links in with the Curriculum for Excellence and the Care Inspectorate's resource ‘My World Outdoors’.
You will explore a wide range of practical and inclusive play opportunities including den building, play with natural materials, small world, and sensory play. These play ideas will encourage children to play independently, using their imagination and creativity.
This course is delivered in 2 parts.
Part One: Theory Based - It will develop practitioners understanding of play outdoors and why it is so important. It will look at the theory of play, the role of staff, and where to start with implementing Loose Parts Play in your setting.
Part Two: practical Session delivered outdoors.
We have two training workshops in The Early Years and Childcare Training Programme.
Aberdeen Play Forum can deliver workshops at your setting, conference or workforce development day. We can design a workshop to suit your needs (Outdoor Free Play, Den Building etc). Outdoor play workshops make a great team building activity as well as increasing staff confidence in delivering outdoor play.
